Ruggero Romano
with Europa Nostra
A CV will never be able to communicate a candidate's passion, determination and interest.
This site to tell you what lives behind my CV.
Why Ruggero as an extension of Europa Nostra?
Film is the most efficient, expressive, and accessible means of communication of our times. I strongly believe that with the wise use of this medium, it is possible to tell impactful stories and redefine perceptions of the social fabric. This is the real way to create change in the socio-political sphere: through stories.
Europa Nostra is part of the socio-political impact area important to me as a communicator, producer and film director. Through an exploration and understanding of the concepts we share in our missions, I see great opportunities to apply the knowledge and platform of Movies Move Us for a growing synergy to support Europa Nostra. For me, participating in this program is therefore not a simple pastime. For me, this program is a springboard to complete a vision: I am highly motivated and enthusiastic about the potential of our shared vision, and the impact that can derive from it.

The Seminary of Palermo (www.seminariodipalermo.it)
In April 2019, I was invited to participate in the Seminary of Palermo, an opportunity to meet Italians abroad to define and plan the future of Italian culture in the world.
I strongly believe that this network of 115 friends and collaborators around the world is an ideal platform to apply the concepts and knowledge of this program. Thanks to the union of platforms, tradition and innovation, we can design a shared growth that thrives in the uncertain future ahead of us. The ESACH’s program is therefore an expedient and amplifier of intentions and projects already in motion.

My story
In 2016, I left Italy with a dream in my pocket. After moving to Vancouver, I graduated from the Vancouver Film School and dedicated to the production and distribution of social impact films. Immediately after the course, I started washing dishes in the local restaurant, and by frequenting the alleys of the city I became aware of an inhuman social imbalance. That was the spark that led me to spend time with the homeless community of the city, playing chess, music and painting on the streets. Experiencing the diversity of all these social environments, including selling luxury shoes, washing dishes, working on film sets, and experiencing the community in its authenticity, I had the tremendous opportunity to be invited to travel with British Columbia's Indigenous communities to document the traditions and truths of the area.
All these experiences motivated me to shape a love letter for the Vancouver homeless community in the form of a documentary: “V6A”. Following the release and distribution of the film, I became aware of the impact that cinema can have in the socio-political fabric, presenting at conferences, organizations, schools and communities in British Columbia to start impactful social movements. It is after 2 years of projects and expansion that I continue to produce films and manage social impact campaigns through "Movies Move Us", using cinema as a mean of mass communication to educate, inspire and interact with communities in Europe and North America. I’m currently in Venezia advancing our latest project, Venezia Reborn, for the socio-cultural rebirth of the city.
PS: I also have a very sharp nose.
In all this, I leave you with a quote from Vinicius De Moraes, as a celebration of life in the face of the uncertainties, surprises and magic of meaningful encounters. Thank you for your attention in this extension of the application, as an extension of my passion in the program proposed by ESACH and Europa Nostra.
With passion and enthusiasm,
Ruggero
